Amsterdam, January 10th, 2018 – During the HotelloTOP Year Event 2018, which took place today during the Horecava in RAI Amsterdam, Sam Holtus HTH’11 was chosen as Hotello of the Year 2018. This prestigious award is presented each year to a Hotello that has distinguished performed within or outside the hospitality sector. Sam left the other two finalists Gabriella Esselbrugge HHL’01 and Joris Bijdendijk HTH’07 behind.
The Hotello of the Year Award is an annual election for alumni of the Dutch Hotel Management Schools that have left their mark on the hospitality business and are recognized and acknowledged as a true Hotello with the core values; hospitable, energetic, socially skilled, inventive and pragmatic, ambitious and a great work ethic. This year, the large number of 75 nominees had to be reduced to a TOP 10. Subsequently, the panel of experts chose the three finalists after intensive consultation. These three finalists were given the opportunity to present themselves on stage to the public at the HotelloTOP Year Event. The attendees were asked to vote for their favourite. These votes, combined with the outcomes of the panel of experts and the online voting prior to the event, ensured that Sam defeated the other two finalists; Sam won convincingly.
Sam Holtus HTH’11 – Happy Tosti
Sam Holtus (HTH’11) won the prestigious award for his success with Happy Tosti. A concept where sustainable and healthy sandwiches, yogurts, soups, salads and juices are prepared and served by special employees, who have a distance to the job market: for example, people with the Down syndrome and/or autistic people. He wanted to commit himself to this group of people after he heard that the unemployment within this group was extremely high. The successful franchise concept opened two more offices in Hoofddorp and Leiden as well as The Hague and will soon open its doors in Breda and Delft. Sam, congratulations!
