Amsterdam, January 10th 2018 – Prior to the HotelloTOP Year Event, Future Hotello took place at the RAI Amsterdam. With almost 300 students and 29 HotelloTOP Partners this 5th edition was a great success. During this event for students and recent graduates of the Dutch Hotel Management Schools a connection was made between the students and the companies of the hospitality industry. Future Hotello is an initiative of HotelloTOP, the networking platform for alumni of the Dutch Hotel managent Schools, in cooperation with the student associations: Io Vivat, Xenia, Amphitryon, La Confrérie and Comitas. During the interactive programme the students have the opportunity to get in contact with representatives of the hospitality industry in an informal way.
Just like the HotelloTOP Year Event, Future Hotel was themed ‘To Infinity and Beyond’. After the opening the participants engaged in two workshops, among which the Reversed Interviews: a unique setting in which the roles were reversed. The Partners of Future Hotello had to convince the students why their company is the place to start the student’s career.
During the Personal Mapping workshop, arranged by FNV, personal development had our main focus. Personal Mapping puts behavioural styles on the map, literally. With their own, personal map students learned about their strengths and recognizing their weaknesses, and also how to deal with the strengths and weaknesses of others.
Keynote Erik van den Bergh (HHL’02)
Keynote spreker Erik van den Bergh is the General Manager of INFINITY Hotel & Conference Resort Munich. He is responsible for the day-to-day activities in the hotel from A-Z. To him ‘To Infinity and Beyond’ means delivering the best service and transferring that to the guests with great passion. He inspired the students with his story about reaching your goals and working in the hospitality industry.
Talent of the Year Award
At the end of the programme Bram Kreté, member of the HotelloTOP Advisory Council, announced that Jorn Heikens of Stenden Hotel Management School was chosen as Talent of the Year 2018; a high potential who is already recognized as a Young Professional and true Hotello. His video-pitch about what he is doing to develop in his studies and other activities and follow his dreams, as well as his strong online campaign and jury evaluation, helped Jorn win the award with 37% of the votes. “Combining development, sustainability and social engagement with the organisation of my own music festival is what I like doing most”, an honoured Jorn Heikens (HHL’19) stated.
